Well, after a long hiatus, I am back. I feel like I have let some people down by not posting any updates. Yes I am still around, and I am still kick’n. I am going to start with the present and work my way back.
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to spend it with ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’ who are part of my colon cancer family. We have talked about this for such a long time, and not knowing how long any of are going to be here, the time was now. We had folks from Jacksonville, Tampa, Miami, St. Augustine, and Orlando. And we met two newbies – and it turns out they live less than 10 miles away from us!
I can’t explain how liberating it is to talk to someone who understands your life. The daily issues I still have and feel as an 11 year survivor. We had people at all stages of treatment and remission from newly diagnosed, to myself being the longest since diagnosis. All of us still have the effects of neuropathy, MPS or multiple poop syndrome, etc.
This year, over 150,000 will still be diagnosed with colon cancer, that being the equivalent to the population of Rockford, IL. Of this number, still. 50,000 will die of this disease, roughly the population of Hoboken, NJ. Still. But we are getting the word out. We are raising awareness. 1 butt at a time.
I just want to say thank you to all my supporters, and thank you for being there for me.
